The view from the High Hrothgar

What’s beautiful in Skyrim ? Skyrim

Let’s redo it in Blender

What could have been ?

A more accurate scale to what I had in mind

Above and beyond

After finishing I thought that shot was too narrow. It just didn’t reflect the mythical aura of the High Hrothgar as described to us in the game

Size matters

And this is my fault. I did not use a software such as Fspy to get a good grasp of the camera angle, I just eyeballed it. The scales are completely off. My mountain appears a lot shorter than in the game

I elevated the snowy landscape and the camera. The obvious problem is I was now required to recreate more of the Skyrim landscape, which I didn’t have a reference for

A lot of work to do

He can’t keep getting away with these

“What are those squares on the border of the snowy landscape in the last shot ? Is that a grid ?”

Those squares my friend are the sign of someone who doesn’t know how to cut an object properly in his 3D software. That same person angled the camera on the final shot in order to hide those flaws, which is an acceptable practice

He in fact didn’t

What is less acceptable on the other hand, is the complete lack of transition between the mountain and the landscape material. Almost like someone had just laid down a mountain on the ground

You may also ask yourself, in the background on the very top right, there are three mountains. Why does the rightmost one have snow from top to ground while the other mountains only have weather starting from a certain height ? There must be a hefty microclimate out there
